Yen's philosophy is that jewellery need not be mere accessory but something of more powerful importance. The sculptural, graphic and yet intricate style of her work is aimed away from the basic decorative usage of jewellery. The distinctive contemporary designs are functional and elegant, incorporating movement that defines the characteristics of her work. Yen's objective is to produce a compilation of works that has dynamic, visual and physical impact. The designs play on the effect of repetition and linear organisation, constructing innovative concepts that are unique in style. Combining silver with gold and occasionally stones in articulated neckpieces, bracelets, rings and earrings, which come to life once worn. The expressive nature of the jewellery has a playful and intriguing quality that is design to enhance the interaction and intimacy between the jewellery and bearer. Since graduating from Sir John Cass in 1995, Yen remained in London to set up her workshop at Cockpit Arts Studio in the summer of 1996. Cockpit Arts houses over one hundred crafts people and designers and it is in this exciting and diverse environment that Yen's jewellery is created. Yen's work can be seen in exhibitions throughout the year or for more information contact Yen on 0207 419 5674 or email yenjewellery@hotmail.com. |
