I was honoured when Joanna Hardy commissioned a bespoke ring to showcase a breathtaking 80.77ct aquamarine.
Having spent fourteen years as a Senior Jewellery Specialist and Auctioneer at Sotheby’s, Joanna is now an independent expert, most widely recognised as the Jewellery Specialist on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, alongside being a published author, curator and accredited lecturer.
Creating an elegant platinum structure for Joanna’s incredible aquamarine was a highly complex task. Due to the size of the stone, it needed to be lifted and held with fluidity and lightness to achieve balance.
I could envisage handcrafted stems, which would effortlessly flow to the stone. Each stem was layered asymmetrically, thoughtfully arranged to create harmony and evoke a sense of dynamic visual movement.
